Plata Pay cashback is money back on purchases you were going to make anyway. Each month you choose the categories you use most (supermarkets, restaurants, gas stations, and more) and Plata Pay returns a percentage directly to your account.
How to get Plata Pay cashback?
Cashback is available to all active holders of a Cuenta. There's no additional cost: if your account is active, you can participate.
How does Plata Pay cashback work?
Each month you choose up to four merchant categories in the Plata Pay App. When you pay with your Plata Pay card in those categories, you get cashback on the value of each purchase.
At the end of the month, everything you've accumulated is credited to your Cuenta on the first day of the following month, ready to use as you wish.
Just opened your Cuenta mid-month? You can choose your categories right away and start getting cashback that same month.
If you don't choose categories before the month closes, you won't get cashback in promotional categories that month.
How much cashback do you receive each month?
Cashback has two levels you can combine
How much cashback can you accumulate per month?
Cashback has a monthly limit. Once you reach it, you'll stop generating cashback that month. Any accumulated balance you don't use does not roll over to the next month.
The limits are:
Without Plata+: $100.000 COP per month.
With Plata+: $250.000 COP per month.
Which cashback categories can you choose?
Each month Plata Pay shows you a list of categories: without Plata+ you can choose up to 7, and with Plata+, up to 10.
Some examples of available categories
The full list of available categories and merchants, with their Merchant Category Codes (MCC), can be found at www.plata.co.
How are merchants classified?
Each merchant has a category code, known as an MCC (Merchant Category Code). It's assigned by the merchant's bank, not Plata Pay. This code defines which category each purchase falls under.
This means that if a merchant is registered under a different category than you expect, the purchase might not generate cashback. This depends on third parties and is beyond Plata Pay's control.
Have doubts about how a merchant is classified? Check it at www.plata.co before you buy. The category also appears in each transaction within the App. If you believe there's a classification error, you can file a claim through our customer service channels.
Which transactions don't generate cashback?
Not all transactions generate cashback. Does not apply to:
Cash withdrawals at ATMs.
Bank transfers (ACH, Bre-B).
Purchases made via PSE or other equivalent transfer methods.
Purchases at merchants classified under categories excluded from the program (check the list at www.plata.co).
Transactions made after reaching the monthly limit.
Cancelled, reversed, or fraudulent purchases.
When do you receive your cashback?
The cashback you accumulate during the month is credited in a single payment on the first day of the following month, directly to your Cuenta as available balance. You don't need to do anything: the credit is automatic.
To receive the credit, your account must be active. If your account is blocked, under garnishment, or in the cancellation process, the credit may not be made
or may be pending.
What happens if you cancel or return a purchase?
If you return a product or a purchase is reversed, the cashback associated with that transaction will be adjusted or deducted. Remember that the right of withdrawal is exercised directly with the merchant, not with Plata Pay, since Plata Pay acts only as a payment method.
